Seth’s wounding of his lover…
She screamed and ran, her heart pounding, fear and adrenaline pumping wildly through her veins. Everywhere around her, people were dying, and the man she loved was killing them.
That thought caught her; she spun around to face him, pain lacerating through her whole body as the demon Seth came to an abrupt rest before her. She reached out to stroke his cheek.
“Come back to me, Seth. Come back,” she begged as the tears rolled down her cheeks. “Come back to me.”
The blaring red demon’s eyes started to change color, to shift and for a moment, she saw Seth’s eyes. She saw the internal battle of wills between Seth and the demon, relished the moment Seth won and the demon fell back into its endless pit of nothingness.
Then she couldn’t stand anymore, couldn’t feel anything but pain.
Seth’s eyes widened and suddenly he was crying. “Ara,” he breathed.
There was a terrible ripping pain through her body as he withdrew his sword from her side.
She collapsed into his arms and they sank to the floor together. There was so much blood. “Thank you,” she breathed, trying to reach her hand up to touch his face. Her arm didn’t quite make it, but he took her hand in his and put it to his cheek, holding it there. “Thank you, for…coming back…to me.”
