steeled, rivets flinch, flinty gaze

steeled, rivets flinch, flinty gaze

averted, spooking iron nails like rain rivulets on the

cool, hard metal.

and every moment clings

tenuous, stripping bare the thin strings,

down,

to single strands, hanging

summer slips beneath the door

a golden glow that

dissipates.

september looms,

and we remember.
