We are tired, we are hungry!
Is what the children say.
We are sick, we are thirsty!
As they slowly waste away.
We want shelter, we want love!
Do we not deserve as much?
Full bellies? Soft beds?
A gentle, loving touch?

Not Today! People say,
As they check out at the store.
Not Today! People say
At the drive through as they order more.
Not Today! People say
On the couch as they watch the fight.
Not Today! People say
Putting their young to bed at night.

Not today…
