This is something I thought of in English class where we had a Writer visit us.
Definitely not my usual genre, I tend to dislike horror. (For Obvious Reasons)

Something in a Dream

It was raining.

Which really wrecked the day of someone by the name of Anne Green; she had planned a day out at the beach with friends and now it had decided to rain. She walked down the gravel path and wrapped her coat tighter around herself and shivered, it would take a while for her to walk back home. Looking around, she saw an old building near the local sports oval. Taking off at a run, she made her way over to the building, hoping that it could provide a little shelter for her.

She entered the dusty building and the first thing that hit her was the smell, it was stale and smelled like rotting wood. Hoping that there were no rats anywhere, she sat down on the dusty ground and waited for the rain to stop.

A little girl sat on the front porch playing with her doll.

Stacy!” her mother called from the kitchen, “It’s nearly time for tea, why don’t you come back into the house!”

Okay mama!” Stacy called from the porch.

Scooping up her ragdoll, she walked back into the house but not before someone lay a hand on her shoulder.

Going somewhere?” a raspy voice asked from behind her.

Stacy screamed and tried to run away, “Mama! Help, mama!”

Stacy’s mother ran out from the kitchen, still wearing her apron. Upon seeing the man, she faltered and a look of sheer terror crossed her face.

Without thinking twice he pushed both mother and daughter back into the house.

After a short time where all there was were screams coming from the house. The man walked out of the house after the screams subsided with two unnatural looking bundles and dumped them in the boot of his car before getting into the driver’s seat.

He drove down a gravel road and got to the local sports oval; he stopped the car and got out. After getting the bundles out of the boot of the car, he made his way to the old building – which was the scoreboard before electronic ones were invented – and dumped the bundles there.

The covers loosened a bit and there were the two deceased bodies of Stacy and her mother, both had looks of sheer terror on their faces.

Anne woke with a start, after calming down a bit and realising that it was a dream, she calmed down a little. The rain hadn’t gotten worse though, there was now a thunderstorm happening outside. Wishing that she had braved the rain earlier, she looked around at her surroundings and what would be her place to sleep for the night if the storm didn’t stop soon.

Her eyes were drawn to a ragdoll, staring at her with haunting eyes.

The next day, the local newspaper’s front page headline was “Muerte Bay Killer Strikes Again.”
