I’m on a dreary flight to Stonehill, Phoenix.
Before you ask the obvious, I’m heading to Stonehill to live with Dad. You see, my parents have just finalised their divorce, and since my mother wasn’t interested in taking me under her care, Dad got custody of me, just like that. Not that I mind, since my mother (I don’t use endearments for her) wouldn’t do a great job as a mother.
I hate her, in fact. I’m turning seventeen next month, and am only in senior year for three months. It’s a crucial year for me, and here she goes, running off with a man thirteen years her junior. Fuck them. I’d rather stay with Dad anyday.
Dad had actually lived in Stonehill since I was thirteen, because he’d found a job as the chief police officer. Fine, he became a police officer first, and was promoted later. The long distance marriage didn’t work out, of course. I should’ve been suspicious when my mother started going out at five and came back 12 hours later, looking a wreck - her clothes dishevelled, her make-up ruined.
Isn’t that a sign that she had been having hot sex with someone else? I didn’t tell Dad my suspicions but he found out anyway, accidentally overhearing my mother making plans with her lover. My life is so fabulous, isn’t it? You could almost call it a hit blockbuster movie. Minus hot main characters, of course.
So, while I’m looking very forward to living with Dad, I have to take an eleven-hour flight over to Stonehill. And attend the school there (Stonehill High School - what a classy name) almost in the midst of my senior year. The population at SHS was ten times lesser than that at my old school. A meagre 400-student population. So if I fuck up my social reputation, that’s the end of it all. Sigh, how much drama can happen to a seventeen-year-old in this world?!
A/N: New story! I know that my profile states that Getting Past Barriers is a story you should expect anytime soon, but I got an impulse to start this instead. Inspiration hits me rarely, so I take every opportunity it gives me, haha. Enjoy this one, yeah? Would love to see what you think about it. :)
Oh, and apologies for the shortness, it'll get longer in time.
