To those who wish to twist the knife a bit further:

Listen, I appreciate the effort and the fact that you do seem to want to fix things. But the fact of the matter is it can’t be fixed because you already did something that you knew would blatantly upset me and you still went ahead with what you thought was best for you and not for ‘our friendship’ and others around you. As for the space, considering it’s my request and my feelings as well, why don’t I decide what is the appropriate amount and you give it? You said that you ‘valued’ our friendship, so obviously you don’t anymore and this is just some passive aggressive move to make sure that there’s nothing stopping you from having blissfully ignorant sex with Chris. Our friendship obviously wasn’t good enough to keep you from hooking up with him and then delay by a day so that I heard from five other people before told me. So it obviously wasn’t that important to you. Since you’re asking me if this is how it’ll end, it’s obviously coming to a close because you’re too fed up with being selfless to try anymore and I’m too fed up with your selfishness to want to. If you’re putting it in my hands, I’m ending it now because you can’t care about anybody other than you and what you want. I hope you’re happy with Chris, ‘cause no one else is.
