I need to buy bread Hot breaths chopped the cold air Clouds looming threaten rain I walked to the lift from my apartment Someone's dog left the floor a brownish puddle Stepping over, I hold my breath as I press door close The crunch that my flip flops make doesn't interrupt the sparrow's meal scattered lights shimmering on the asphalt shades of sea green grass,
shards of broken glass. One here, there, a few over here I stop, my toes start to squirm My eyes close and slide my foot out on to the ground press it, rubbing it on the largest shard my eyes open, I should be buying bread On the way home I keep my eyes fixed at the sky.
