speaking in tongues, touches,

glances, sighs

hoping to whisper something in the same

language that is home to you,

trying to tell if you're

answering or

have you forgotten how we

spoke when we first met?

speaking in tongues, touches

glances, sighs

hoping that you remember my heart beating

in time to the steps we took

towards one another

the ones that have taken we two

through the soft and salty times

since we first met

speaking in tongues, touches

glances, sighs

hoping the pattern still matches the

freckle constellations that align

like stars and planets pulling

us together

with any luck, keeping strong the bond

that we knew when we first met

speaking in tongues, touches

glances, sighs

hoping that the finger traces won't be

tear tracks when you can't hear

what shape I ask for your love in

(though some could say if

I were wise I would

know better than to have to ask).
