Those sweet Aphids
with their blacks and reds,
clinging to brittle leaves
along Autumn-touched asphalt

amidst the biting currents of invisible tide,
or fate that which it rows against,
euphemism of hardship,
a transient burnabee.

a freezing shell,
survival rivalry.
