A/N: Okay, here is the first part of the sequel to CHANGES. I hope everyone enjoys it!!

When I was younger, I always dreamed that a prince would come and whisk me away, you know, the whole fairytale concept. That was what I always looked for, someone to love me. Someone to care.

I guess I was pretty, people tell me I am. I don’t know, I guess I just really don’t care. I just know that from the time I was about twelve, then boys started asking me to “go out” with them. Not that I ever agreed. Not then anyway.

In seventh grade, which I know is young, I thought I found my prince charming. He was the best looking guy in school, with hair and eyes so dark they were almost black, a great build, even then. And he was the funniest guy I had ever met. I thought I was in love.

We dated all through our eighth grade year, and almost all of our freshman year of high school. Towards the end of our freshman year, my prince charming decided he wanted to “play the field” and he left me in the dust.

Now, he was considered the most popular guy in school. Popular, what a joke. He had girlfriend after girlfriend, each one skankier than the last. And even after all of these years, I still noticed him.

To bad for me, he didn’t give a shit what I was up to.

I had friends, and I dated occasionally, but nothing compared to what people call, “first love.”

Senior year started out like the previous two, except for one little detail. I had a class with Chris. Aka, my ex- prince charming.

I sat away from him in Chemistry, and tried to ignore the many jerky jokes and comments he made. Of course, he never got in trouble for any of it. Even the teachers didn’t hate him.

But I did.

You would too if you gave everything, everything, to a guy you thought you were in love with, and then he dumped you so he could go…taste the other product.

And from what I’ve heard, he tastes a lot.

And now, I have to watch him flaunt all of his little conquests daily, all the while looking around at someone else.

Trent, Chris’s best friend, still talked to me occasionally. He had his own problems, problems I knew of all to well, but he made a point of coming up to me and starting up a conversation. Chris would just look the other way. Like he was ashamed I had even existed. Ashamed to have ever been with me.

The drama started about three weeks into our senior year. I was in the girls restroom, brushing my hair, when three girls all came in, so absorbed in what they were talking about that they didn’t even notice I was there.

“Everyone knows that Chris pretty much talks for Trent.” The first girl said, looking at a girl I recognized from my Chemistry class. Actually, I think I sat next to her. Right, Trent’s new step-sister. “Trent goes off in one of his…moods…and Chris talks for him.”

Moods. Huh, I guess that’s one way of putting it.

“You’re crazy.” Step-sister said, glancing at herself in the mirror. I fought back a smirk as she took in her disheveled appearance. “Chris was just being…nice.”

Okay, now it was my turn to cut in. Chris being nice, hah! “Are you talking about Chris Holland?”

Step-sister glanced at me, startled. Told you they didn’t notice me. “Yeah.”

“Chris is never nice.” I told her, rolling my eyes. “The only time he is, he’s trying to get you to sleep with him.” Which I knew all to well.

“Speaking from experience?” The first girl muttered.

I gave her a look that once made my mother ground me for a month.

“We need to go.” The third girl said quickly. I hadn’t even heard her speak before now. She grabbed the other two girls arms, and made to pull them out of the room.

I couldn’t let them go, not without saying what I had to say. “If Chris was nice to you, it’s for either two reasons. To get you to sleep with him, or because Trent asked him too.”

They left and I went back to brushing my hair. Chris was being nice to Trent’s old crush, now soon to be step-sister. Huh. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not.

I ran the brush through my hair one last time, then made my way to choir. “Ready for new choreography?” My best friend, Alyssa, asked me, sitting down beside me heavily on the risers.

I made a face at her. “No.”

“didn’t think so.” She muttered, glancing around the class.

We worked for the entire hour, and then it was finally time to go to Chemistry. The class was so damn easy. I don’t know why step-sister girl had such a hard time.

I walked into the class, early as usual, and got a nasty surprise. Sitting on the top of my desk was none other than Chris Holland, sending me a glare. I glared back. “Get off my desk, Holland.”

Chris didn’t move. “What did you say to Kaitlin?”

I frowned, who the hell was Kaitlin? “Who?”

Chris glared at me, jumping off of my desk and moving just inches away from me. “Kaitlin. Trent’s new step-sister.”

Oh. She must have told him. Great. “The truth.”

Chris rolled his eyes. “Listen, Natalia. Just because you don’t lie and say what you think is the truth, doesn’t mean it actually is.”

I glared at him. “I think I know you well enough to know what the truth is, don’t you think?”

Chris smirked at me. “Ah, baby, you used to know me. You don’t know a damn thing anymore.”

“And I don’t want to.” I said venomously. “I don’t give a shit who you are now. I cared about you then, not now.”

All of the arrogance left Chris’s face instantly and he gave me a glare that rivaled my own. “Don’t say shit like that, Natalia.”

“Well, you know me, don’t you Chris?” I asked, my voice cold. “You know I don’t lie.”

He opened his mouth to say something else, but someone stepped into the room. Kaitlin, step-sister. Her eyes looked at me, then Chris. A confused expression settled over her features. “Kaitlin.” Chris greeted her, nodding in her direction.

I was the only one able to hear the controlled anger in his voice.

Kaitlin smiled at him softly, then looked at me. I smiled at her, then moved around Chris to take my seat. Chris looked at me for a moment, and in that moment I knew. He didn’t say a word, just made his way to the back of the class.

“Got under Chris’s skin, didn’t you?” I chuckled, looking at Kaitlin.

She frowned at me. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“He really does like you- as a friend.” I told her, having realized it in that second he looked at me. He did like her, but not in the way I had first thought. “If he liked you as a casual fling, he would really care about what I said to you. And if he was just being nice because of Trent, he really wouldn’t care.”

“Oh.” Kaitlin said, looking greatly confused. I chuckled softly, but she didn’t hear me, she was too distracted. Trent walked into the room, and I frowned when I saw him in one of his moods. I looked back and saw Chris studying me thoughtfully. I ignored him, turning back to face the front of the room.

That was the day things started to change.
