My Desire
Secretly, I hope to leave you captivated,
Not by beauty in the form of physical appeal,
But in a passionate and consuming longing,
A longing for the me you know in every word I write.
HHHHHH
Secretly, I dream that you hang on my every line,
A stricken man who finds himself in my emotion,
A wanting love whom I unknowingly charm
With my idealistic and naïve faith in true love.
HHHHHH
Secretly, I imagine you enchanted with this forward confession,
To read these lines with a desperate, love sustained fervor,
To hold their meaning close to you, and by doing so
Hold me close to you so I can be sure you understood.
HHHHHH
Secretly, I desire to leave you dependent on my poetry
As I am dependent on you for my every inspiration
I want to leave us in equal in this romantic reliance
I want you to love me as I, not so secretly, love you.
