Well, it's been exactly one year
Since that day that I'd come home to tears,
And in that single moment there,
Mom's eyes confirmed all my fears.
It was a four day weekend
That the news had spoiled,
The three of us; mom, dad, and I,
Felt emotions overboil.
Grandma, you were a nice old lady,
You were a light in the dark,
With your kind and loving spirit,
Long will live that spark.
Yes, it has been quite hard
to continue on with life,
With all the stress and hate and tears
Cutting like a knife,
But we all know you're looking
Over us from up above,
And you're going to see our lives play out
and help us spread the love.
So, grandma, we all miss you
More than words can ever say,
But we all have hope and joy
That we'll see you up in heaven someday.

"I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid."
A/N: I wrote this yesterday for the one-year anniversary of my grandmother's death. This is dedicated to my mom and dad, for them being strong and taking care of me, even at my worst. I love you, and I really appreciate all that you've done for me. Thank you.
