Modern Romance
-
Modern romance is nothing more
Than a flash flood of circumstance (circumstance)
I keep rubbing my eyes – till the moonlight exalts me
I never knew love until it kicked me in the jaw
It was just a small dot in the distance
I keep remembering – our first faulty steps
I don’t know what you expect of me
I’m not perfect, not even close to it
I’m only human don’t you know
-
I keep reading in these magazines
Of love unfettered and free
People only marry for money these days
But that’s not real love
It’s just words on paper
No one knows what real love is
It’s a mystery, but that’s the way its meant to be
-
I hear the nuclear family is in meltdown
And the face of marriage has been overrun
Hijacked by the media force feeding ideas
Promiscuity and obscenity is common place
In the hearts and minds and on everyone’s lips
How can society get back on track?
How can we heal the hurt felt in everyone everywhere

Don’t dash at the first sign of trouble
It’s only natural, you’ll trip and fall
But you’ve got pick yourself up
And work at it, that’s real love…
