PROLOGUE
“What did you just say?!”
“I said, 'How could your mother love you?'”
“Maybe she doesn't, what would you care?!”
“I can see why she wouldn't!”
“At least my mother talks to me!”
“Yea? To tell you how worthless you are? And what about your druggie of a father? Stuck in jail for life because he murdered someone!”
“Leave him out of this! I'm not...I'm not like h-him!” She was breaking down now, her balck hair hanging in her eyes as she sobbed. She stopped as suddenly as she'd begun, and raised her haid to meet his blue eyes with her amethyst purple orbs. They were swimming with rage. But rage directed towards her father or himself, Damien didn't know.
She stood up, and walked slowly over to him. The onlookers gasped as her Converse thudded on the linoleum floor. She raised her ruby red lips to his ear and hissed, “I resent him for what he did. He tore me from one of my best friends.” And with that she turned sharply on her heel and walked away, leaving a stunned and confused Damien behind her.
Tears stung Jynxx's eyes as she walked away from her enemy of eight years. Since fourth grade. The crowd parted as if they were the red sea and she were Moses.
The door to her last period class appeared in front of her and she tool a seat. The teacher droned on and on, but all Jynxx could think of was the look of surprise on Damien's face as she'd brought up the raw past.
