A/N: I don’t own the song that is in italics! It’s from Sting’s ‘Desert Rose’!
Characters cast:
Pharaoh Lgy- Lawliet Gus Yasmin, 15 years old
High Priest Ell- Elliot Lattia Legolas, 19 years old
(They both have a clandestine relationship, which is forbidden in the laws of Syrion, the place in which Lgy rules.)
Watching as the sun turned a faded orange in the distance, Lgy revelled in his cozy spot under the cliff as he reflected on his day’s events. His advisor, Jules, had paced about the throne room in the morning, ranting about the citizen’s obliviousness towards the impending take-over of pharaoh-ship. In the afternoon, he had to entertain guests from Zebervia who had came to discuss trading in Syrion. As a 15-year-old, the events had worn him out totally, and by asking nicely (begging and pleading), he had somehow managed to get Jules to allow him to watch the sunset by himself.
“Sire, what are you doing here alone?” Lgy turned to his right, half expecting to see a guard with a spear. To his surprise, he found Ell, his High Priest, looking down at him, his face half-blocked by the sloping shape of the cliff. “I’m watching the sunset. Jules allowed me to. What about you?” Ell shrugged as he crouched down. “Just decided to take a walk before attending to the hurt workers….Sire, I wouldn’t suggest this kind of informal talk-…” Before Ell could finish his sentence, he was cut off by a finger pressing against his lips. “Chill…..there’s really no one here. Just me and my lonesome self.”
Ell seemed to calm down as his uptight stern self relaxed. “Oh….I thought, Jules would never let you go out alone, not with robbers and all…” Lgy smirked as he crawled out of his little ‘hiding-spot’. “I’m not that weak, Ell….The weapons master Lu Jinn trained me, remember?” Ell chuckled as he stood up, barely hitting his head against the underside of the cliff. “How could I forget? You nearly endangered his life by pointing your sword at his throat.”
This desert rose…
Lgy smiled happily at that memory. Lu Jinn, the weapons master, had always prided himself as an unbeatable foe that ‘could never have a sword at his throat’. Unfortunately, during a sparring session with Lgy, he had proved the contrary. Suddenly, his thoughts pulled back to the present as he got up and pranced about the beach. Ell shook his head and smiled as he watched Lgy dance to an unknown tune. Suddenly, Lgy stopped in front of him, his closed eyes opening to gaze at Ell. “Care to dance with me?” Ell smirked as he took the outstretched hand into his. “It’ll be my pleasure, sire.”
As Ell and Lgy danced about the beach to an unheard and unknown tune, sand was stirred up by their sandals, adding to the allure of the scenery. By the time they stopped dancing, the sun had gone down, and the last glimmer of pink vanished before them as night took over the sky. All that was heard between them was pants and occasional laughter from Lgy. “Man, that was awesome.” Ell smiled as he rested his forehead against Lgy’s. “I wish moments like this with you could last forever,” Lgy added as he tilted his head upwards to look at Ell. “But alas, they can’t.” Ell smirked as he leaned down slightly to kiss Lgy. To his surprise, Lgy moved away. “Not now…..” He dashed up the sloping grass patches, and turned back to find a confused and hurt-looking Ell staring back at him. “Meet in the throne room!” Ell’s hurt expression disappeared as he smirked and nodded his head.
The shadows play in the shape of the mans desire
“Goodnight, young Pharaoh Lawliet.”
“Goodnight.” Lgy echoed back as the last of his administrative advisors left the throne room. It was well into the night already, but Ell was nowhere to be seen. Lgy slumped back against his throne dejectedly. “I can’t believe he forgot…” The sound of throne doors being shut was heard, and Lgy sighed and stood up from his throne. He was about to walk out of the throne room when he felt a tap on his shoulder from behind. Turning around, he was greeted by a pair of lips on his. The twinkling playful eyes of Ell smirked back down at Lgy. “Missed me?” Lgy smiled as he leaned against Ell to kiss him. “Lots…..but then, how’d you get here when the throne doors are closed?”
Ell smiled as he looked about him. “I told the guards to go home and get some rest and close the doors behind them. Easy as that.” Lgy blinked. Once. Twice. Finally, it clicked into his brain. Ell was the High Priest after all, so he had some command over the guards. “Oh yeah….I forgot you were the High Priest.” Ell smiled softly as he stroked Lgy’s cheek. “Hmm….and I suggest you get some sleep, sire.” Lgy looked confusedly back at Ell. “But…?” Ell shook his head. “No ‘but’s. You’re the pharaoh of Syrion, if I must remind you. A young one at that. It’s well past the ruling hour, so it’s better that you get some rest for the next day.”
Sweet desert rose…
Lgy rolled his eyes as he broke away from Ell’s embrace. “Fine, fine…..play the ‘pharaoh’ card, won’t you.” Ell smirked as he caught onto Lgy’s hand. “I’ll accompany you to your rooms, if you want. My night room is not far from yours, anyway.” Lgy smirked as he walked alongside Ell. “Alright…”
For the next few minutes or so, only the steady pace of their footsteps were heard as Lgy and Ell walked down endless corridors and turned around corners into dimly-lit areas with few torches. Finally, they arrived at Lgy’s night room. “……Well, goodnight.” Ell nodded as Lgy walked into his night room.
This memory of hidden hearts and souls…
Hearing his curtains being drawn, Lgy looked back to see Ell poking his head through the silk curtains. “Think you can get Jules to let you out alone tomorrow?” Lgy shrugged as he walked back to face Ell. “Maybe. Why?” Ell smiled as he kissed Lgy’s forehead lightly. “If she does, come down to watch the sunset again. I want to show you my special hide-away from those annoying guards who need healing for minor injuries. Goodnight, little pharaoh.” Lgy watched as Ell’s head disappeared from amongst the silk
He was so definitely begging Jules to let him out alone again the next day.
