Honesty will only get you so far. That’s what you taught me. But let me be quite frank with you: nothing you ever taught me has ever gotten me anywhere. Not as far as honesty would’ve gotten me, and definitely not as far as you promised to take me. You promised me the world, the stars... the regular. And I wanted to believe. Just like all those other desperate little girls out there that get promised the stars by some bloke and then – foolishly – expect him to actually keep that promise. But you never can. Keep anything.
