It was bound to happen

Your looks, when directed away

Make you look like from the fights you’ve won,

You were hardened against the world,

From every kind of man.

It was bound to happen

Your stature, when turned from me

Make you look like a soldier of my lost army

A ronin, if we were samurai,

And not just almost-sophomores.

It was bound to happen,

It was bound to happen sometime

When you spoke to me, eyes down

And later again, and later again,

And I realized that there is more to you

Than composure lets me see.

It was bound to happen

When you first really looked my way

And I saw that for once you’re not so strong

That you can scare anyone away with a look

And also inflicting physical damage.

It was bound to happen

It was bound to happen certainly

When that one look you gave me

Showed that from me,

You have nothing to hide.

It was bound to happen

With that one look

Imprinting in every fibre of me

That I would realize that I, too,

Have nothing to hide from you.
