the light bulb above my head flickered ominously, turned yellow by weeks of smoke and dust. flies flew cirlces around them, creating a buzzing sound that filled the room. the rest of us sat in a circle, watching him roll the joint. this was our home, i knew, because we had nowhere else we wanted to go.
