A short poem written after I witnessed one of my friends accept a 'mutual' break up with their boyfriend.

.Enjoy.

Dresden Lace

Lies

Honestly, I’m fine,

Do I need to say it again?

I understand what you’re saying

How we are just friends.

No, you didn’t break my heart,

No, I’m not going to cry.

Yes, I’m perfectly okay,

No, I’m not going to die.

I know it was just a fling,

That you don’t truly love me.

Of course I never thought you did,

How stupid would that be?

Just friends is brilliant,

It is all that I wanted.

Please stop saying that

My eyes look like they’re haunted.

Stop stressing over me,

It’s not like I’m hurt.

You didn’t rip my heart out,

And throw it in the dirt.

For the last time now,

I’m honestly, truly fine.

Please just leave me alone,

So I can go and cry.
