I lost the string that held the dulcet world.
The shining splendor fell from my left hand.
I had it 'round my finger, tightly curled;
By accident, I dropped that silken strand.

I cannot bear to tell you of the pain:
The pain that comes from watching your world break;
When truth and beauty, songs and seas and rain
Lie flattened in the dirt – for your mistake.

To tell the truth, twas more than just an earth;
Twas more than all the orbits of a sun.
It was his love I lost, his touch, his mirth,
And now my heart is utterly undone.

Now I have learned my lesson. Here's the thing:
Hold tight to worlds tied on the ends of string.
