Tyler’s POV

I pushed my way through all my peers squawking about the party they went to last night.

“Last night was fun. “ I heard someone say for the hundredth time today.

“I know. Never expected Andra to actually talk about her life before here. Even more surprised because she decided to relive it for a while for us to see her life wasn’t all awesome.” Some girl replied.

“Hey Tyler!” Maria called me from the classroom. “I was wondering if you had an idea for something that should be given out as one of the raffled objects. We still have a few slots, like four or so.”

“If you’re looking for something cheap, I don’t know. Sorry I can’t be too much of a help to you Maria.”

She just smiled and told me not to worry about it, then walked off to bug someone else.

“Hi Tyler.” Andra said from the kitchen counter. “How was your Hallow’s Eve?”

I blinked for a moment; did she just say Hallow’s Eve? That is an old title for the holiday. Shaking my head I answered her question.

“Fine. Sorry I couldn’t make it last night. I keep hearing it was a lot of fun, and really cool.”

I saw her cheeks go red before she hastily turned back to the big black folder of everything ness.

“That’s ‘kay! I never realized people in high school actually participated in Hallow’s Eve.” I gave her a look. I do not participate in ‘Hallow’s Eve’. “OF course all the kids who I knew were in high school was either taking their younger siblings around or at the charity ball giving out candy.”

I chuckled. No doubt she was always one of those passing out the candy, not receiving any of it.

She gave me a look easy to decipher, ‘What’s so funny?’

I tried to make a serious face and act like nothing happened, and it worked, for a total of about three seconds. After that I couldn’t stop laughing.

“Hush or I’ll put you on wash duty.” she half-heartedly threatened. “It’s not nice to laugh at people.”
One look at her had me cracking up again.

Her hands were on her hips and she was tapping her foot impatiently. She was wearing that expression every mother has worn from one time or another. It might have been scary except for the fact she was blushing like crazy.

“To the sink. Now.” Andra had that tone that pretty much said mess with me and die.

Ryan’s POV

“Dude, what are you on?” John asked me for the third time. “You know how much trouble you could get into if they took one of those damn drug tests right now?”
“I’m not on anything John. Just happy, really happy.”

I returned to the stupid sewing machine I was working on. I had managed to tread it already and was working on my pajama pants.

“I wonder what Andrews laughing at? He’s cracking up and the cutie is blushing like mad.”

I glanced over to the kitchen area. Tyler was standing by the sink, the water already running. Andra was looking at the stupid book but I could see the red that was on her cheeks.

“What’s the matter? Like her?”

“NO! She’s just a freshman who happens to be in this class.”

“So quick to answer. I think your fibbing. IF cutie was just another classmate, you would have been at the party with me last night, not at her house.”

I glared at the foot on my machine. John was chuckling and I knew I was beaten.

“Someone’s crushing on a cutie. Hehe –wait, how long have you?”

I just ignored him and continued to sew the pant legs together.
“Dude don’t say a word, cause then I’ll go tell the cutie that you are the one who likes her not the freak sophomore. If she likes you, it’s ok. But if she doesn’t, hehe, she might just be going to the dance with me. And god, I wouldn’t mind helping her out of her dress.”

I heard a chair scoot back next to me. John was probably getting a new bobbin, not talking to Andra. He’s one of the ones who want me to get a date. After a minute of silence I looked up and say John talking to, well to be clearer virtually on top of, Andra.

Shit.

Andra’s POV

“Hey there, cutie.” Some annoying voice addressed me.

I ignored the person, measuring a cup of flour for the brownies. Unfortunately I could still sense the presence of the unwanted person.

“Tyler can you get me the sugar?” I asked.

A moment later someone tapped my shoulder.

“Thanks” I said turning around, then I jumped back in surprise, hands landing on the counter to keep me from falling.

“Hey princess. What’s the matter? Can’t stay upright around me?” Mr. Hotshot said leaning inward, causing me to lean back.

“Personal bubble space.” I muttered twisting slightly to either side of me. A pair of arms shot out, stopping any possible escape.

I looked for Mrs. Jackson- surely she would do something about this- but she was busy somewhere else, turning a blind eye to what was happening in the kitchen.

“John just leave the freshman alone. She doesn’t want you in her pants. Get over it.”

Ryan was standing behind John, his arms crossed. His face described his face perfectly, pissed off to the extremity. Tyler was off to the side, watching.

John chuckled at Ryan and just leaned in even closer to me.

“I need to tell you something Andra.” He whispered only loud enough for me to hear. “But I can’t do it if drummer boy here is present.”

“John, Goddamn it. Get your ass over to where it belongs.”

“Meet me after school in the secluded area behind the school near the band room. You should know where that is.”

Ryan must have been serious, because he grabbed his friend by the collar and hauled him over to the sewing machines.

John winked at me and mouthed a silent “Don’t tell.”

“Are you alright?” Tyler asked me. “Sorry I didn’t help out but no one gets between john and a girl unless your name is Ryan.”

Karen’s POV

What in hell is that idiot man-whore doing? He’s not suppose to be hitting on Andra that openly. He never has before.

“Wow. Look at Ryan’s face. He’s definitely pissed at John. Thank goodness I’m not in his shoes.” Jess ranted on about something I didn’t really care about.

“Look Jess. I love you and everything, but I still have a headache from drinking last night. And I’m still totally pissed that little miss perfect decided that our party was too good for her so she had to have her own.”

Jess just looked at me, knowing that if I really wanted to rant that I would continue on.

“It’s not fair. Ryan was totally sticking up for her last night… and so was Sparrow. He was like totally all over her. Why does she get all the cuties?”

“Sorry Karen. I don’t know. She’s not that pretty. And she’s a goody-two shoe, so not fun. I mean she’s still a virgin, and I don’t think she has plans on changing that anytime soon.”

Andra’s POV

BRING! BRING!

I grabbed all my stuff and rushed out of the room thinking about what John had said. He had to tell me something supposedly and he couldn’t say it with Ryan around.

On one hand, it’s known that he is a man whore, who wants to get into every pretty girl’s pants. But he also called me by my first name, so it has to be something important since he thinks he has a right to call me pet names.

But why would he want me to keep it a secret?

I shook my head, clearing it. My friends were waving at me from the table. I waved back and ran over there.

“Hey there honey.” Grace said, “What was John trying to do today in FACS?”
“What was my brother doing?” Hannah asked curiously; I jumped not even realizing she was there.

“Nothing. Don’t worry about it.”

“She says that because Ryan came and rescued her. And that Freak is your brother?”

Hannah and Grace were arguing when a pair of arms wrapped themselves around my waist and a head suddenly used mine as a rest place.

“What did she say? And who is this Ryan character?”I tried to turn to face the person talking, but the arms held me fast.

“Kay, I have two questions for you Andra.” Grace said.

“One, who is that girl, and how does she know you? She doesn’t go here, that’s for sure.” One of the girls said, all the while eyeing someone to my left.

“And who is that brunette freak who’s clinging on you?”

Brunette? At that I started to squirm all the more, ignoring the questions my friends just asked.

“Goddamn it Jake, let go of me.” -He just chuckled at me. - “This isn’t a laughing matter.”

I looked at my friends but realized that they wouldn’t be much help. Instead of helping me out, like good friends would, they just

“Excuse me, but I’m going to have to ask you two to break it up PDA is prohibited in school.” Mrs. Matheson said walking over to us. “Andra? I expected better from you of all people.”

“Sorry Mrs. Matheson. My idiot of a friend is home schooled and I didn’t realize he was coming. Or else I would have warned him about the code of conduct here.”

I heard Jake huff then let go of my waist. Every single one of my friends were giggling at this. So immature. The moment Mrs. Matheson was out of view, he flipped her off.

I ran three steps, glomping my friend in the process.

“What are you doing here so early? I wasn’t expecting to see you until late tomorrow night. Besides shouldn’t you be in school?”

“Thanks I feel loved now. No hello or how are you.” She pouted at me. “But that’s not the point. Who is this Ryan fellow? Is he a cutie?”

“Caroline, you’re suppose to be spoken for. Remember Chris?” Jake said, slightly flabbergast. “And what in hell is wrong with that teacher?”
“First of all Ryan is f-ine. Not only that, he’s one of my brother’s best friends. Secondly, Mrs. Matheson has nothing wrong with her, besides being extremely innocent. She won’t even acknowledge the fact that teens know what sex is and definitely oblivious to the fact that teens have sex.”

“And that’s the part that makes Creative Writing so much fun.” I said, remember the first thing I ever wrote and read for the club. “It’s that stupid wig, you know. Your so use to having everyone give in to whatever your whim is, because you are some big shot singer.”

Jake just stared at me as I took a bit of my sandwich. Then he remained silent the rest of the lunch period, leaving us girls to gossip and talk.

Ryan’s POV

New text from John

Where in hell r u?

I hit the reply button, and started typing my response, ‘I got out of class late. Give me a bit.’

God what does he even want? And why does he want me to meet him near the band room? Normally I can’t even get him to venture near there, let alone stay there.

Andra’s POV

I looked back once more just to make sure no one followed me. No one was there and I was getting seriously paranoid. Maybe I should have told someone about this. At least then someone would be able to find me if something bad happens.

“Hello?”

“Hey princess. You made it! Good.”

I blinked. He was just standing there, well leaning against the wall, looking completely innocent. Something had to be up.

I approached carefully, taking small, slow steps.

“So are you really that curious to find out what I was talking about?”

“What were you talking about today?” I asked, keeping my distance from John.

“I’m not going to bite you, cutie. So get your tiny ass over here. I don’t care to yell across the lot.”

I continued to take small, slow steps towards him. I wasn’t quite sure of his motives and didn’t want to get hurt.

“God you are so slow,” he said, rushing up to me and grabbing my upper right arm.

“Let go of my arm.” I shrieked surprised at how fast he moved.

John ignored me, shoving me against the wall. I tried to get away, but that resulted in my arm hurting and my other wrist pinned to the brick wall.

The asshole was virtually on top of me, making it impossible to knee him. He released my right forearm, grabbing my chin instead.

“Where, in that pretty little head of yours, does the innocent naivety tick? Don’t you see everything clearly like the rest of us?”

I just looked at my captor. What in the hell his he talking about? Then something he said clicked. “I’m not naïve.”

“Right and I am a virgin. Honey, come out of your little box and enter reality. Tyler doesn’t like you, he likes some other chick.”

“N-no he doesn’t. He asked me to the dance.” I was thoroughly confused.
“Think about it honey. Who the one who stopped you from drinking with me? Or earlier today, who was the one who told me to back off? Who was always there for you even when you didn’t expect it?” He questioned quietly, John’s head getting closer to mine with every word until our foreheads were touching.

I opened my mouth to say something, when a door opened.

Ryan’s POV

“Hey you, brunette ass!” I heard someone yell. “Do you know where Andra is?”

I turned around to see the blonde wonder standing behind me. His arms were crossed and he was shooting daggers with his eyes.

“I don’t know where the freshman is. I just need to find my friend before he gets in…” I trailed off, trying to put two and two together

“Do you have any idea where she might be then? She’s not answering her cell phone.” I short-ish girl piped up.

Then it clicked. Crap, John, I better not have to murder you.

‘John what r u doing?’ I typed after opening a new message.

“Follow me. I’m not one hundred percent sure, but I think she might be this way.”

“Thank you…” The girl said. “Um, sorry but I don’t know your name.”

“Ryan.” I answered, running the short distance to the band room. “Now please be quiet.” I told them skidding to a halt outside the door. “I doubt they are in here. More than likely the people we are looking for are just outside the other band doors.”

I opened the door and wasn’t surprised when I didn’t see anyone there. I just sprinted to the door on the opposite side of the room, proceeding to rip open the doors.

The first thing I saw was John holding Andra against the wall and his head touching hers.

“Goddamn it! John, get the hell away from the minor!” I yelled. Hopefully I made it clear that it was illegal to do anything with her.

John pulled back his head. Andra had a look of shock written across her face. She looked at John then at me.

“Oh, hey there, dude. You’re late. Whatever, I don’t care let’s just get moving. And Princess, just think about what I said. Don’t be afraid to ask me anything.”

I walked up to John and Andra. “Are you alright Andra?” I saw her nod before I rounded on my idiot of a friend. “And what the hell, John? She’s underage and you are technically an adult. Don’t be doing anything stupid.”

He just rolled his eyes and stalked off. I turned to see if Andra was actually alright. She was already by her friend, talking about something, not even looking this way.
