my little kitten
the attention span of
a cat

so cute
adorable
precious

she plays with me
for a while
but goes away
to play with something else

i suppose she was
never mine
i just fed her
loved her
supplied her shelter

i guess she was always
a stray cat at heart

but when she gets bored
and when she's alone
and when things get cold
when her hunger returns

she'll be back
crying and scratching so feverishly at my door.
