away

--

there are times
when we walk along the shores
cerulean ocean at our feet
waves humming mellifluously

we laugh at the sea
we joke about the beach
and its lifeguards
with yellow sunglasses

but sometimes
there are times
when i lay flat on the sand
golden grains sticking to my skin
clinging and never leaving

and i ask the sea
if she could reach me
and wash away
these salty grains

and i ask the lifeguard
if he could take me away
with his cool surfboard
away from these shores

a/n: Sometimes I wish I could break this bond.
