This was inspired sitting out on top of a ridgeline in Philmont, New Mexico. I have never seen a starscape like that before or since, and I was wondering how many people even take time to appreciate such things.

Sitting in silence, I listen

Observing the sky above

Stars spiral across the heavens

And no clouds obscure the view

.

Amidst the chaos of this life,

Stillness becomes precious

I smile in my solitude

And my soul rests at ease

.

They say the universe is

A symphony, that plays for only

Some. For few there are who

Will spare the seconds and listen

.

Tonight, I hear the music

Of the planets and the stars

The song they sing is one of peace

And one we all should hear

.

So take the time, some silent night

Sit back amidst the grass

Open your soul to the skies above

And listen to the song of the stars
