Prologue
“This should draw out all those pesky fighters!” Exclaimed a dark tall man. “Make a tournament to see who’s the best. Yet, this would be a good time to test out my latest project.” A twisted grin formed as he turned to a cyrotube filled with a green liquid, and a living being. Floating in suspended animation. “You.. you will demonstrate to the world, what it means to have true power.” He turned away, towards the many televisions placed in one area. Watching the one with a large boat approaching. “The time is arriving, I better get ready.” He said placing his coat over him, and walking out.
Chapter one
“Wow, this place is huge!” Said Liv in astonishment. Her voice was one of the many voices that echoed through the crowded hall. “I can’t believe that the tournament is being held in here. I mean, aren’t they worried that we will tear it up in the fun?”
“They must have a lot of money.” Replied Hokvo, a young girl Liv met on the boat ride over here.
“Few of the people here are scary.” Said Liv looking at everyone here. “Those three are probably the scariest.” She pointing towards the first one. Wearing a large black rain coat. She then points towards the next male. His hair was white, but he stood there silently. She then pointed to the last one. It was a female this time, but her eyes were covered by a bandage.
“They do have a creepy aspect.” Hokvo grinned at Liv. “But the rest don’t seem that scary.”
“True.”
“So when is this tournament suppose to start?” Asked a boy wearing a blue jacket, the ends covered in fluff, his under shirt was black with a circle like symbol, and was wearing a regular headband. He looked to be eighteen.
“They assign us rooms and it’ll start tomorrow.” Explained Liv. “Haven’t you read the letter?”
“Nope.” Grinned the boy. “Oh by the way, Im Mithos. Mithos Urishima.” He said raising his hand.
“Liv” She said connecting her hand with his. “And this Hokvo.” She said pointing at her.
“Nice to meet you.”
“Like wise.” Said Hokvo bowing. She glances around. Examining everyone here. “Do you know anyone here?” She asked still having a creepy feeling in her spine.
Mithos shook his head frantically.
“I haven’t a clue who anyone here.” He said taking a look for himself. “But I’ll tell you, it’ll be some tough competition.” He smiled in anticipation. Not able to stand the wait no longer.
The voices soon died as a man wearing a hunter jacket appeared on the balcony above them all. He stared at everyone with his grey eyes and then smiled.
“It’s nice to see you all here.” He spoke in a loud commanding voice. “To this year’s, Grand X Tournament!” He exclaimed as everyone cheered. Well except for two people. “We’ll soon find out! Who has what it takes! To be, the greatest fighter in the world!” Liv stood on her toe in excitement. Hokvo smiled at it.
“I know that you all had a long ride here. So today, you rest and prepare.” He said calming down. “Take what you’ll need, cause once you enter. You won’t be able leave to you loose.” The crowd stood there, either smiling or glaring unable to accept defeat as an option. “You may use any facility on the north side of this island. Everywhere else is off limits. So eat, buy weapons, sharpen them, rest, whatever, Be back here tomorrow. And we’ll start the tournament.” He said leaving, the crowd quickly died off too. Walking down the halls, the man smiled a twisted smile. “I can’t wait to bring my creation to life.”
Liv was helping herself to the food center. Tables were stacked with delicious food from every country. From the overly prepared meat, to the simplest of salads. Just the sight of it made her drool. She grabbed whatever she could fit on her plate and sat next to Hokvo, who only had such a simple meal. There were about a good amount of people in the room. All of them chatting or enjoying the food. Liv took a drumstick and sunk her canines into it. Ripping a huge pack of meat and wadding it up in her mouth. Crushing it slowly before she swallows it. She sighs enjoying the taste.
“Tomorrow is going to be a dozy.” She smiled looking at Hokvo. “Don’t think I’ll go easy on you when we see each in the arena.”
“Even if you weren’t going easy I would smack you down.” Hokvo replied glancing up at Liv smirking. “Just don’t loose to anyone else.”
Liv grinned at her joke. Taking another bite into the leg.
“Same goes for you.”
Liv and Hokvo exited out of the cafeteria after getting more than their fill of food. Liv held her stomach as it growled. Trying to digest everything she consumed.
“I told not to eat all of that.” Said Hokvo shaking her heading. “And now your sick. Will you be ok?” She asked as they near the hotel.
“I’ll be fine.” Liv lied as she quickly placed a hand on her mouth. Holding back the food that was climbing up her throat. “Just need to rest before I-” She was interrupted as her stomach once again tries to push the food up her throat. “Sorry got to run! Bye Hokvo!” She said dashing as quick as she could. Her throat tensed as it scaled higher. Hokvo just stood, blinking dumbly at what she just saw.
“Uhm…ok…” She paused for a second. “See you tomorrow?”
Liv was hunched over the toilet. Regurgitating most of the things she devoured. The taste of meat of stomach acid was all she could taste. She blew her nose, ridding of the stingy feeling that came from the acid.
“Sick.” She said tossing the tissue in the trash. She burped as her stomach is now calm. No longer threatening to loose anything else. Liv sighed as she looked in the mirror. Her eyes reflecting against the glass. One side was blue, the other was red. Hetroceromia. A extremely rare condition in the eyes, causing two eye colors. Either separate, or mixed. She sighed as she removes her clothes and places her Pjs on.
Night fall approached quickly. Liv laid on her bed, above the covers. Her arms behind her head as she stared at the ceiling.
“Im going to win…just you wait.” She mumbled before her eyelids declined and closed. Letting her finally sleep.
