Unneeded words
ringing through those lips,
sweet and short -
a conversation game,
all our Chips held back
in fear of losing everything.
Your sweet Hello,
those bitter Goodbyes,
and tender skindeep topics;
a civility made awkward
by mutual infatuation.
So much to say,
and so little time to say it,
you've gone
before I can try.
Grey room of silence
and our muted selves
looking to the floor,
to the ceiling,
to the walls,
To each other-
ions charge and gravities weigh,
blue eyes dig inside what I would bury
to hide from you.
Talks about nothings,
facts we tell each other
as we cringe the other way
and point lead pistols to our feet.
Can you speak to me,
for once can you say
what lay behind your filter defenses,
can you hurt me with truth?
Can you tingle me with words;
shoot electricity down my spine.
Or must it be me
to cut the air with my tongue,
like a sword to a melon.
A fatal mistake if I can't -
if I wait,
you'll be gone.
