Hold Onto The Memories
Briar Elwood
Summary: She couldn’t stop grinning all weekend. Heck, she even cried out of joy. She needed to remember that, even though the what-ifs had started up. She needed to remember the pure joy.
A/N: Needed to get this off my chest, that’s all.
Morgan couldn’t believe she was here. Just three days ago, she’d fallen in love with him. Heck, she’d even resisted for almost twenty-four hours. So, really, just two days ago. And where was she now? Dancing with him. In the dark. Faces so close, Morgan only had to move her head forward a few centimeters and they’d be kissing. Dancing with him. …Rather sexily, she might add. Course, that was all thanks to him. He was a dancer, after all. The Nutcracker this year. All the same.
Morgan couldn’t keep the grin off her lips. He’d been the one to turn around to face her, he’d been the one to get that close. There was a fire in her heart, a fire in her stomach and Morgan was all but paralyzed.
He was so perfect. So adorable. Someone who shared her interests in acting, yet still had morals. Someone who actually was a decent person, who Morgan could actually, in all reality, see herself with. And here she was, dancing with him. So close. So perfect.

Things continued on the wonderful path of happiness. Morgan gushed to Marie, so happy to actually be happy for the first time in a long time. Marie laughed at her, encouraging, amused at the giddiness of her friend. She couldn’t help but add a little tidbit she’d noticed: while Morgan had been getting ready for closing night, putting on make-up, doing her hair, Gerald had totally been watching her. Just standing there. Watching her.
Morgan’s heart literally skipped a couple beats at that point. The grin on her lips widened to the point where it hurt and her vision blurred. She pushed against it for a couple seconds, but the emotion was too strong. Tears rolled down her cheeks and she started crying hysterically. She was convinced she looked like a maniac with a huge grin plastered on her face, with hysterical tears running down her cheeks. She’d cried out of joy before but over a guy? Never. This had to mean something.
~Later~
Of course the giddiness could not last long. Doubts started to arise, made louder by “friends” who implied that Gerald wasn’t completely straight, that his flirtations were simply part of his nature and didn’t mean anything. Morgan explained these doubts, these implications to Marie who completely disagreed. Gerald wasn’t flirtatious like that. True, he was flirtatious, but so is Marie! So is Morgan! In fact, so is this “friend!” It was more than that, Marie insisted. It had to be.
Meanwhile, the parents came into the picture. Still completely supportive of an old love, Morgan could easily tell they weren’t exactly fans of the idea of “Gerald and Morgan.” While Morgan did not disagree with supporting this old love, she was not going to be able to see him again for over another whole year! There was nothing she could do now, so why not have fun? And Gerald was such a perfect person…
The doubts and negative thoughts remained, though, and Morgan’s mood swirled quickly down the drain. She’d worked up the nerve to ask Gerald on a date and he’d said sure but it wasn’t going to be for over another week. Things seemed to be at a dead standstill and, mentally, it was getting worse. Morgan looked back at the weekend, wondering how such a good mood could be vanquished so quickly.
She had to remember the joy of those moments, she decided. She needed to hold onto that hope, to hold onto the memories.
A/N: So... er... what do you think? I like the first section, the best personally. Still. I LOVE REVIEWERS!
