i woke up today
and the sky was still blue.
the grass was still green,
the world was still spinning.
nothing had really changed
and yet
the world is a different place now.
we can never go back to
that place where we were
now what we've seen what
a nation can do,
now that we've got the hope
we were yearning for
cradled in the palms of our hands.
close your fingers around it america.
hold onto it tight.
you own it.
it's yours.
