Ever notice how elevators usually have one mirror? There’s a reason for that. On rare cases, they have two mirrors. There’s a reason for that as well. And if they don’t have mirrors, they have unpainted interior doors – giving the appearance of a somewhat blurred mirror. There’s a reason for that as well.

Walking into a one-mirrored elevator alone doesn’t really change anything from your perspective. You go in, you ride it to your floor and you get out. Nothing happens – right? This is dead wrong. In those scant moments between the closing of the doors and the movement of the lift, your body is sucked through the mirror and deposited in an alternate universe. This universe looks the same – there are only very subtle differences. You can live an entire lifetime in this new universe without knowing that you’ve shifted. However, some aren’t as lucky. They know that the people around them have changed, that the things around them aren’t what they seem. They’re usually thrown into the asylums. Some of them make the most out of their situation – but always strive to go back to their “home” universe. These people jump into any single mirror elevator they can find – gaining new insights and knowledge. The TV show “Sliders” was created by one such individual – he had seen twelve thousand alternate universes.

The interesting thing is this – the “jump” will not work if there is more than one person.

Blurred mirrors don’t really have anything malevolent or altering to them. If you stare at them for long enough – you may be able to make out something behind you; coming closer with each second. If you have not left the elevator by the time it has reached you – you will be forced to take its place. Of course, both these fates are much preferable to the one that befalls the victims of the dual mirror lifts.

Dual mirrored elevators have a darker and more sinister purpose. Have you ever had an elevator stop at your floor, doors open and have no one inside? You step in and subconsciously know that there was someone in there before you. Look in the mirrors. Do you see your reflections stretching out in the distance? Look closer. Directly at the limit of your visual range will be that person. They will be screaming silently – either in pain, fear or both. If you squint, you may be able to see others trapped in there. Shatter one mirror and half their soul will die. The other half will go mad – or may try to leap into your body. A worse fate awaits groups of people who step into these lifts. In an instant, their souls will split and merge with each other – having individual consciousnesses within a single being. These amalgamations long to be separate again and beat against the walls of their reflective prison.

It should be noted that this event happens to every one in ten thousand people. If the dual mirrored lift you happen to be in stops or breaks down, listen to the sounds around you. Listen to their stories. Listen as they tell you the secret of the mirrors. After that point, you will be fearful of all mirrors wherever you are.

Trust me.
