opening my eyes to dusty amber motes of sunset light.
from a beautiful dream i wake shivering,
to the realization that once again i am all alone.
i open my arms to the emptiness, as tears begin to flow;
my bed is cold and vast and haunted, and i am all alone.

nightfall, and the darkness fills me; all encompassing the moon a dulled, silent witness, lost in the sky.
i feel the blade's narcotic kiss as in my room, ashes slowly begin to fall.

blanketed in charred words and scorched dreams,
there is a pool now, in the darkness; a field of blood red roses beneath me.
a single candle burns fitfully, casting the shadows of those i have lost on the wall and in my mind.
and i close my eyes, i must turn away.

dawn streaked skies, and the birds sing.
brilliant sunlight pierces through my bleariness;
everything has congealed, the ghosts have all fled.
there is a book before me; stamped with wax and written in blood; the words wrenched from my soul.

i smile through my tears;
for though i am still very much alone, i am here; and it is enough.
i have survived another night, bleeding myself dry to continue my story.
