So Wrong, But Feels So Right

Chapter 1

High school can be four years of pure hell, or the clichéd "best four years of your life." It all depends on your social status and of course, how much you care about said social status. Him? Danny Jones? He’s cool. Hell, he’s the most popular guy at school. He doesn’t really remember when he wasn’t popular.
He’s the star soccer player at Rosewood High. He plays Forward and occasionally plays at midfield. Plus, he’s lead guitar player and vocalist for his school’s rock band, Risus. Cool, huh? I mean, who doesn’t like guitarists? Seriously! Well, there’s someone that doesn’t.
His ex-girlfriend Olivia Shaw.
Man, was she hot. A brunette with piercing green eyes. Danny and Olivia got together back in freshman year and had pretty much been together up until junior year. Their relationship was on the rocks since they started junior year. One week they’d be dating, the next they’d be mad at each other, and the next week, they’d be back together. Needless to say there was plenty of make out sessions, or what people would call unnecessary amounts of public display of affection (PDA).
So, now Danny is in senior year, single and getting ready to go off to college to make something out of my life. One thing I know for sure, my major is definitely going to have something to do with music. More specifically, the guitar.
He’s been playing the guitar ever since he was five years old. He actually was given a toy guitar when he was four. He loved it so much; he even slept with it on a few occasions. On his seventh birthday, he was given an actual guitar and hasn’t stopped playing it since. Well, it’s been paying off. His band has gotten a few gigs at parties and stuff.
“Are you even listening to me?”
Danny snapped his head up and looked at his best friend, Gabriel Summers. He had an annoyed look on his face and shook his head. Danny grinned sheepishly at him, brushing hisf hair out of his eyes.
Daniel Alan David Jones, who prefers to be called Danny, is 5”11 tall. He has curly brown hair, which he chooses to straighten every morning, and ocean blue eyes. He has perfectly straight teeth and a smile that would make any girls’ heart melt. To say that he was the most sought after guy in Rosewood would be an understatement.
“I was listening,” Danny said from where he was sitting, on the back of Gabriel’s car.
“Then what’d I just say?” Gabriel asked crossing his arms over his chest.
Gabriel has straight black hair with the ends bleached blond. He has piercing green eyes that always seemed to be sparkling with excitement. He has two earrings in his right earlobe and a lip ring. He has a dimple in his right cheek that always appeared when he smiled. Like Danny, he plays on the soccer team, sweeper, and is in the band Risus. He plays the bass guitar.
“You said that we should down tune our guitar half a step for some of the songs we perform so we can work with Ely’s singing range,” Danny replied. “I’m right aren’t i?”
“You were listening but you weren’t paying attention,” Gabriel replied pursing his lips.
“So what?” Danny asked with a grin. Gabriel rolled his eyes in reply.
“Man, where’s Ely and Alaric, we need to start rehearsing,” Gabriel said pulling his cell phone out of his pocket to see what time it was. “They’re half an hour late.”
“As usual,” Danny said rolling his eyes. A grin slid onto his face when he saw two girls walking by. He raised his eyes brows and smiled his sexy smile, one that he practiced in the mirror for hours on end, and winked at the girls. “What’s going on ladies?”
The two girls giggled and whispered to each other. They occasionally glanced at Danny and smiled. Danny took this opportunity to get a good look at them. Blondes with the perfect hour glass shaped bodies clad in jean short shorts and bakini tops.
“Hey, Danny,” the shorter blonde said twisting a lock of hair around her finger. “What’s up?”
“Band rehearsal,” Danny replied with a shrug.
“You mean our non-existent band rehearsal?” Gabriel asked rolling his eyes. “We’re missing two members in case you’ve forgotten.”
“Details,” Danny muttered waving his hand in the air. “So what are you ladies up to for the rest of the day? Maybe I could tag along?”
“Maybe,” the taller blonde said with a loud giggle.
Gabriel rolled his eyes, throwing his arms into the air. He sighed heavily and headed into the garage over to his amp. He plugged his bass guitar into his amp and played a chord, testing how loud it was.
“Come on, man, we’ve gotta practice,” Gabriel said rolling his eyes. “We won’t be ready for battle of the bands if we don’t start now.”
“Yeah, I’m coming,” Danny said over his shoulder. “Sorry ladies, but I’ve gotta go.”
“Aw,” the blondes giggled-whined. “Bye, Danny.”
“Peace,” Danny replied making a peace sign. He gave the two girls another wink before heading into the garage. He sat down on his amp and grabbed his electric guitar. “Dude, I got both of their numbers in less than five minutes. Who’s the man?”
“Not you, I’m sure.”
Danny sighed in annoyance and ran a hand over his face before looking up at Rhubella Jackson, the bane of his existence. The last two members of Risus, and the last two members of the group of friends, Alaric and Ely, headed into the garage and over to their respective instruments.
Rhubella, who likes to go by Rhuben, has long black hair, with a lock of it dyed purple, and ocean blue eyes. She isn’t like any other girl at Rosewood High. She loves to play the drums and inline skates. She does a plethora of sports and hates anything that has to do with dressing up or acting girly. In short, she’s a rebel chick.
Danny and Rhuben have known each other since they were little kids. And ever since they first met, they have been getting on each other’s nerves, making sure to make each other’s lives as miserable as possible.
“What are you doing here?” Danny asked narrowing his eyes at her.
“In case you’ve forgotten, Alaric is my friend too,” Rhuben replied coolly, motioning to the boy that was adjusting a guitar strap around his neck.
Alaric Winters grinned and played a chord on his rhythmic guitar. He has bleached blond hair, with orange streaks in it, and one blue and one purple eye. He doesn’t play soccer like Gabriel and Danny, but he does play sports. Alaric mainly spends his time surfing down at Spray Beach.
“I wonder why,” Danny replied in a monotone. “Ely, you ready to start?”
“Yeah, man,” Ely Whitaker replied, sitting at the drum set, twirling his drumsticks around his fingers. “Let’s practice.”
“Shouldn’t you be going, Bella?” Danny asked Rhuben, a smirk sliding onto his face. His eyes sparkled mischievously. He knew that she hated to be called Bella by anybody but her close friends. “
“Don’t call me Bella,” Rhuben snapped, narrowing her eyes.
“What’s the matter?” Danny asked raising his eyebrows, a mocking pout coming to his face. “Hate being called beautiful because you know you aren’t?”
“You’re such a dick,” Rhuben snapped.
“And proud of it,” Danny replied with a suggestive grin. Rhuben rolled her eyes and scoffed. Then she gave him a hard stare. “I know I’m hot, but you can stop staring now.”
“Don’t flatter yourself,” Rhuben snapped, her blue eyes narrowing. A lock of purple hair fell into her eyes and she blew it away as an annoyed look crossed her face.
“I can’t help it if you find me attractive,” Danny replied with a grin.
“You’re not my type,” Rhuben snapped.
“Ouch,” Danny winced. “That hurt. It really did. So, what is your type?”
“That’s for me to know, and for you to never find out,” Rhuben said with a smirk.
“Oh, but I think I will,” Danny replied rapidly raising and lowering his eyebrows.
“Buzz off, Rockstar,” Rhuben snapped.
“Oh, so we’re using nicknames now,” Danny said clearly amused. “Listen, sweetie, you won’t be able to get rid of me that easily. I’m friends with your brother in case your forgot.”
“Oh, I’ve got a few ideas lined up already,” Rhuben said giving him a fake sweet smile.
“Lots of girls here already have developed feelings for me,” Danny said with a smug look as he casually looked around the room. Gabriel, Ely, and Alaric exchanged glances. “And so have you.”
“What?” Rhuben yelped.
“You don’t have to deny it,” Danny replied arching an eyebrow. “I know I’m attractive. I just didn’t think I’d attract someone like you that quickly. I mean seriously, me and my mates we’re fit as they come.”
“Someone like me?” Rhuben asked, raising her eyebrows. “So you already have me figured out then?”
“Actually, I think I have,” Danny said crossing his arms over his chest. “You play the drums and you have been for a while now. Your favorite color is black although you put in some accents of purple from time to time. People classify you as a goth form all the black but you’re not, you’re the rebellious type. You have friends and you like hanging out with them, but you also like spending time by yourself.”
Danny grinned at the look frozen on Rhuben’s face. “I think that look pretty much tells me I’m right.” Rhuben opened her mouth but Danny cut her off. “And you hate being figured out.” Rhuben replied with a weak ‘Whatever’ and shifted her gaze from him.
“See you guys later,” Rhuben said turning to Danny's band mates.
“See ya,” they replied at different times.
“Jones,” Rhuben said icily before she left.
“Jackson,” Danny back in the same tone. He ted until she was out of earshot before letting out a cry of frustration and played random chords as loud and as fast as he could on his guitar. “Man, I can’t stand her.”
“Then why are you always teasing her?” Gabriel asked raising his eyebrows.
“Easy target,” Danny replied automatically.
“Right,” Ely said rolling his eyes. He played a small drum fill and smashed the crash cymbol.“That’s the reason why.”
“And what’s that supposed to mean?” Danny asked turning around to face him.
“Nothing,” Gabriel replied for Ely, shooting him a glare. Ely pressed his lips together.
“Anyway, we should get practicing,” Danny said standing up, adjusting his guitar strap around his neck. “Ely count us off.”
Ely nodded and clacked his drumsticks together to count out the pace of the song. Gabriel, Alaric, and Danny played the opening to their song. Danny stepped up to the microphone and got ready to sing.
“She’s got a lip ring and five colors in her hair,” Danny sang, his fingers flying effortlessly over the frets and strings.
