Sisterly Disputes

“Ariella, will you please shut up.” Tia growled at her thirteen-year-old sister.

“It’s just not fair. Why should you be allowed to go and stay out ‘til ten? My curfew is seven.” Ariella stomped her foot, her arms crossed.

Tia sighed, “Because I’m four years older than you. That’s why.”

“It isn’t! It’s favouritism.” Ariella protested.

Tia raised an eyebrow, “Says the daughter who gets to have her friends over for sleepovers whenever she wants – clean room or no.”

Ariella huffed and diverted her eyes, “Moot point. I’m hungry. Get me some food.”

Tia slipped into her jacket, “Ariel. You’re thirteen, you have legs. You get yourself something to eat.”

“But it’s downstairs.” Ariella’s eyes widened.

“Message from the file marked ‘duh’.” Tia muttered sarcastically.

“I-I’ll tell you what,” Ariella began. “You get me some food and...I’ll let you have the remote tomorrow.”

“Oi vey, the remote! How kind of you, your Majesty.” Tia mocked. “I’m not here tomorrow, and you know I don’t have time to watch TV.” She drawled.

“Ha!” Ariella snorted, “You don’t have time ‘cause you’re stuck in your books and imagination. Mam said so, she did. She also said you were a stupid waste of space; wasting all your time reading and writing instead of studying.”

Tia covered up her hurt with a sarcastic comment, “At least I do read, unlike the rest of this bloody family. Anyone would think you were all completely illiterate. I’m going out.”

“Good riddance. “Ariella sneered.

“Oh, and Ariel?” Tia walked back into the room, “Get out of my room.”

English Task: Write a conversation between two characters so their personalities are revealed.

Note Dated Monday 24th November 2008: Hey! I got this piece back from marking today - I'm SO happy with my grade! I got an A!!! I actually squealed and done a happy-dance in my seat. The teacher said a lot of the class didn't understand the task, and I was SO scared that I was one of those people. But I wasn't, so YAY!!! XD
