Elemental

Bury my heart in the cool earth
Beneath the willow of my youth.
Countless summer days spent beneath
The green boughs, with my love.

Bury my heart under the waves
That lap the golden sands of the Southern coast
Where the sun shines brightly and we
Spent the days dancing, carefree and content.

Bury my heart in the blazing fire
I am returning to my origins-
From ashes to ashes, from dust to dust.

Better still, cast me to the wind
So that I may taste true freedom
As I ride the shifting currents of the world.

But do not weep- I am the midday moon,
The crest of the blue forever morning
The soft notes of the breeze-blown rushes-
A heavenly spirit
Earthbound.
