A Mix of Literature

"Know you not, good King Lear, that every man has his worries?"

Asked Dr. Faustus to the young ruler on the way to Canterbury,
To visit the fiery Prioress (the girl he wished to marry).

"Every man may be afraid," replied the musing king,
"But I am not just any man; I have authority."

Dr. Faustus tipped his hat and said quite hastily,

"You've been blessed with divine rule; that much is true.
However, there is something else that I must point out to you."

"Every man’s worth is judged on the places that they go,
not just the titles that they wear to court for show."

"You see, every man is watched from heaven until journeys end,
and is judged on how they treat their family and the travelers they befriend."

King Lear thought a moment and then said quite merrily,

"You are right, my good doctor, you have cured my anxiety."

"No greater a doctor is there in all the land,
so I wish you good luck on your trip to Canter-Land."

Dr. Faustus bowed then went his separate way,
To visit his true love, the prioress, that very day.
