Get off my back

Does it make you feel better?

When I smile after you speak

Taunting me and bugging me

Never knowing what it really does

_-…-_

You comment on my laugh

And how I never seem to stop

But did you ever think to consider

That I do this instead of cry

_-…-_

If you were to see me cry

I know you wouldn’t look at me the same

There’d be that pity in your eyes

A look that puts me to shame

_-…-_

I know I shouldn’t complain much

Because what you say is actually funny

But did you ever think that maybe

You could give it a break

_-…-_

Maybe let me have a day

Where I’m not judged and made fun of

The ‘special’ one amongst the group

And always bugged about what bus I ride

_-…-_

I don’t ride any busses

After so many years I thought you’d know that by now

But still you tease while I just smile

Pretending like it all just rolls off my back

_-…-_

It doesn’t

Everything you say sticks

And I remember it in the end

It doesn’t just roll off

_-…-_

But how do I tell you

To just leave me alone for once

Without breaking down and then you’ll stare

With pity in your eyes

_-…-_

In the end, it’ll all just be the same.

You’ll still throw your jokes

And I’ll just laugh them off

Like it doesn’t even matter

Like it doesn’t affect me

But it does matter

And it does affect me,

More than you’ll ever know
