There is a buzzing. A strange, constant buzzing. There are a few coherent thoughts that pass through the buzzing. But the overpowering force is the buzz. She was fine, at first. Just a bit embarrassed. Probably in shock, now that she looked back. But now… half the time she wants to cry, half the time… she has no idea. She just… listens to the buzzing. It’s like that wire dust bunny. Grey. Sharp. That is the buzz. Just… this friction created by the wire dust bunny. Filling her head. She feels numb, almost. Like this lead has been poured into her blood and she weighs a hundred times more than she did this morning.

Confusion. That is the word. Complete confusion. Seriously. Had not it seemed so obvious? Why this, then? Marie would bring up her current situation and relate it. Ellie… was not being any help. And she could only text Niki. It was keeping her slightly less insane than she would be otherwise but… Confusion. She has no idea what to do. It was not like her hopes were completely shattered. There was simply a huge fracture. And she can feel it. Right between her eyes. Right there. A fracture. Like in a mirror. Seven years of bad luck. Ha. Yeah. Bad luck. That would be the way to put it.

The buzzing is continually there. The numbness will not fade. The confusion just sticks. The fracture will not heal.

There is nothing she can do. Simply try to endure.
