Don’t Cry Baby
(Because It’s Just So Tragic)

And they call her up on the telephone
At 2 o clock in the morning
Screaming profanities into the receiver
To her poor and barely breathing mother
Talking all about what they want to do to her
And where they’d get down and dirty
And she wants to block her ears so badly
But it's the only thing that’s helping keep her sanity
And makes her feel like she’s worth something
For god damned once

And her friends all beg her to stop
And think about what she’s doing to herself
But all she can think of is how low she’ll next drop
When she sees them so in love together
Speaking of a forever only they could know
So she’ll wait around at the bus stop by herself
Trying to imagine what it feels like to be held
And she pictures a love she’s never felt
As though the wind would answer back
To her feeble cries and panic attacks

And while they’re discovering things on their own
She finds out what it's truly like to be alone
Finding comfort in the only source that offers
Even if it's in the guise of a sordid lover
Despite the bad pick up lines she can mime along to
From all the times she’s been subjected
She knows that on the off chance she’s rejected
She’ll crumple to the floor in a heap of bloody adjectives
Because all she ever wanted was to be loved
But no one wanted her that much

And despite the fact that she’s got any number of boys
Waiting at her very beck and call
She can see from their half-hearted advances
That all they want is a lights, camera, action-filled night
And a way to express their usually repressed desires
On a girl who will take whatever she can get
Simply because she thinks that’s all she deserves
Yet she’s worth so much more
And before her knees hit the floor she mutters to herself
“How many is this? I lost score...”
