The Final Stand

The ground shook with such intensity that the towering skyscrapers fell down and the soldiers in the distance saw the destruction.

The year was 2179, and Aliens came to Earth to conquer it. The first signs of the Alien arrival was water contamination from the Alien Spaceships. The second sign was a great tsunami that struck the Pacific West. Lastly, was the sighting of the Alien Army itself, coming down from space to destroy the humans.

The American Army watched as their capital was shaken to bits via the Alien’s massive Tanks. The human army’s leader, Aaron, was a 5-star Marine. He and his men ran toward the destruction to fight off the massive army of death. When the men saw the Tanks, many of them fainted from the sight. The Tanks were 100 stories tall, with armor plating as think as a meter. The several cannons that were mounted on it were as big as houses. Along the wheels were mounted machine guns.

When Aaron saw this, he felt his hopes drop, but he still had the courage to overcome the Aliens. Other than the three 100 story Tanks, were thousands of troops. Each nine-foot Alien carried a missile launcher, a sword, and a sub-machine gun.

“There is no way we can kill them all!” One of Aaron’s men exclaimed.

“We won’t. Our aircrafts are hovering overhead right now and will drop bombs on the enemy,” Aaron replied. But right then, one of his planes crashed into a nearby building.

“At least we still have nine other,” Aaron muttered while losing hope. Two more planes exploded in the air. Aaron ran fro cover while fire covered the ground.

“Prepare the H-Bomb,” Aaron said into a speaker, “We will keep them where they are. Drop the bomb in 20 minutes even if we are still here.” Aaron walked away slowly thinking about the battle about to come. One of his assistance ran toward him.

“We can get you a transport to save you and your men right before the bomb is dropped. When you see the jet coming to drop the bomb, there will also be a transport. Just go into the vehicle and the driver will drive you to safety.” Aaron approved of the idea and then looked at the horizon. Other than the Tanks, aircrafts, and armies, there was an odd looking giant Alien machine. It had eight mechanical legs, each connected to a small body. Aaron looked closer to see that in the body there was a cockpit. An Alien controlled the robot.

Aaron ordered his troops to focus their fire on both the tanks and the robot, not to focus on the troops so much. The American army ran to the Aliens, each man firing his assault rifle at the evil army. The Aliens pulled out their swords and when the humans came in contact with them, the humans were impaled in their hearts. Clouds blocked out the sun and the only light was from the gunfire that reflected off the large puddles of blood scattered around the battlefield.

Aaron, seeing that his men were being killed at a fast rate, put on his armor and unsheathed his most prized item: a sword so sharp that it could cut pure granite as if it was butter. Aaron ran toward the carnage and lifted up his sword. The first Alien he came in contact with, was cut in half by Aaron’s sword.

Aaron jumped up while holding his sword behind him. And while he came down, he impaled two Aliens that stood behind him. Aaron dodged a missile that exploded near him and he went behind some rubble. Five Aliens dashed toward the rubble only to see three grenades laying on the ground about to blow up. Aaron’s trap exploded and the five Aliens were incinerated. The grenade also made the rubble explode and it hit all the Aliens in a ten-yard radius. Aaron looked up only to see three missiles coming straight at him. He ducked and they blew up the Aliens who were behind him.

Aaron ran toward the eight-legged robot while slicing and dicing foes along the way with his sword. The darkness seemed to engulf him. Out of nowhere came hulking Alien beasts. They had the heads of lions, but the bodies of men. Each one had a giant mace-strong enough to turn Aaron into a pancake in one hit. Aaron jumped and did a back flip backwards and kicked a Beast behind him. The mace of the Beast in front of him missed Aaron by one inch.

BOOM! Aaron looked back to see that his base was blown up by one of the 100 story Tanks. The Tanks seemed indestructible. Aaron side-dodged another attack by a Beast’s mace, only to land right in the path of a Tank. The Beast followed behind him, and when Aaron ran out of the Tank’s path, the Beast got ran over.

The gunshots sounded like disoriented drums, exploding in the darkness. The sound was so horrid that it drove some of Aaron’s men insane. They shot at the clouds, at the darkness only to be shot themselves. Aaron watched as most of his men died. He ran into a partially-destroyed building. He knew he would be safe for a little bit. The time was 10:35. Only six more minutes before the transport came and the H-Bomb was dropped. Aaron knew that he and his men did not keep the Aliens in the boundaries he promised to keep them in, but maybe he bomb would still kill them.

Aaron ran to the other side of the once-hospital building, and found some supplies to cover his wounds. Bam, bam, bam! Machine-gun fire roared through the hospital and a troop of Aliens scattered in the building, shooting at anything that moved. Aaron put bombs at the four supports of what was left of the hospital, and then he ran away out of the building. The bombs went off and the hospital’s supports exploded, causing the building to cave in on the Aliens that were still there.

Aaron took out his sword and held it to his side. While he ran, he injured Aliens at the same time. The darkness became thicker due to the black smoke that shot out of an Alien Tank that the American soldiers destroyed. Aaron picked up an Alien machine gun that was lying on the blood-stained ground in all the chaos and shot it at the Beasts that approached him. The Beasts collapsed as corpses. Bullets whizzed past Aaron while he filled the Aliens around him with lead.

Boom! Boom! Boom! The Alien aircrafts dropped fire bombs around the battlefield. Fire quickly spread across the area. The contrast between the bright fiery ground and the dark black sky created a scene that made Aaron pause in wonder. The fire blinded the soldiers and Aaron as he ran as fast as he could past the carnage and toward the giant eight-legged contraption. Explosions made the earth shake as corpses flew into the air on fire. The air was maroon as the blood turned into gas. The ground melted, the sky blackened, and Aaron knew the end was about to come. The hulking robot of death approached him.

Aaron jumped up, raised his blood-stained sword, and impaled his blade through the glass that surrounded the cockpit, and through the head of the Alien at the controls. Aaron jumped back as he saw the robot cockpit explode in blue flame. The explosion was so great the earth under his feet gave in and an abyss formed under him. Aaron grabbed onto a ledge beside him so he wouldn’t fall in and he held on for his life.

His hands burned as fire was everywhere. He lifted himself onto land and stood up on his feet. He could hardly walk. Aaron looked around and saw no sight of humans, just Aliens. He was the only human still alive. This was the end. It had been 30 minutes since the battle began and the jet with the H-Bomb was supposed to come ten minutes ago. Aaron tumbled to the ground. He thought the Alien aircrafts probably destroyed the jet and the transport. He came to the conclusion that the Aliens were going to take over the earth. Aaron was wrong. He looked into the distance one last time to see a sparkle in the blackness. He looked closer. The sparkle looked like a jet. Aaron was overwhelmed with relief that the Aliens didn’t destroy the jet. There was no transport, but he didn’t care. He wouldn’t be able to walk to it anyway. He was too weak to stand up.

The Aliens stared at the jet, and a fearful expression captured their faces. Aaron smiled, and the last thing he saw was the bomb being dropped from the bottom of the jet…
