This was a short contribution to this LJ community called 'Line by Line'. Essentially, a one-line prompt is given every week and members write short pieces incorporating the prompt. Quite interesting and this was my first (and only) contribution (so far) to the community on 22 Jul 2008 (Yeah, I know. I got lazy in posting it here but I did it!). That week's prompt was 'piece by piece' and for some reason, instead of working, I wrote this in the office.

One day, a little girl found a box filled with many colored cardboard pieces all shaped differently. She brought it to her mother and asked what it was.
‘It’s a jigsaw puzzle,’ her mother said and showed her how to piece the picture together. Her mother did not know it but on that day, she gave a valuable lesson to her little girl.
Many years later, the girl fell in love.
But her happiness was short-lived when the boy she thought she knew drugged and robbed her of her innocence, and uploaded her shame in digital colors.
Though she was given justice, her psyche remained shattered.
One day, while searching for a razor blade, she found the old box of jigsaw puzzle instead. The memory of her mother’s lesson so long ago brought a smile to her face for the first time in months – a smile of determination.
Slowly, piece by piece, she put her life back together.
