A/N: This was my orignal Nano piece but I decided to change it because the way the story was heading was not very good. But this time around I have done it perfectly. The poem here describes the time before the time that actually is now in the story. But this poem had given me the idea to write this story in the first place. This is such a favorite poem, it is so beautiful, and it actaully inspired me (after An Unexpected Life) to write sci-fi. Enjoy.

There Will Come Soft Rains

By: Sara Teasdale

There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,
And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;

And frogs in the pool singing at night,
And wild plum trees in tremulous white;

Robins will wear their feathery fire,
Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;

And not one will know of the war, not one
Will care at last when it is done.

Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree,
If mankind perished utterly;

And Spring herself when she woke at dawn
Would scarcely know that we were gone.
