My name is James and I’m 7 years old. I go to school at Newhaven College and I’m in year 1.

I live with my mum and my dad. I also used to have a dog called Rusty, but he ran away about two months ago, I was very sad when I couldn’t play fetch with him anymore.

We have a house in Cowes on Phillip Island.

My favourite colour is green because it’s the colour of the grass and the leaves.

My favourite number is 100 because I can count up to it and even higher.

My favourite food to eat is spaghetti and meatballs, I even ate some for dinner last night. Drawing is one of my favourite things to do in the whole world. I can draw anything, like my house, cars, the trees, my friends and my family.

My dad works at a place called the abattoir. I don’t really know what he does there, but he says it’s where they make meat for sausages and hamburgers. He is very busy and sometimes comes home late at night after I’ve gone to bed.

My mum used to work at the Coles supermarket in Cowes, but she is now at Coles in Melbourne. Dad told me she’ll be with grandma in Heaven, Melbourne. I am not sure where that is but dad said I can go see her soon. I asked dad how soon and my dad said I can go visit her in a couple of days where I can be with them in the meat department.

I am really excited about tomorrow because dad said it’s “Take your child to work day” at the abattoir. He is going to show me what he does at work and even lots of other cool things. He even said there is a big surprise just for me. I can’t wait for tomorrow to come!
