Inside a home lit by green and red

An evergreen stands decorated.

Bulbs of silver, gold, and blue

And little white lights strung all the way through

Wind their way through this Christmas tree

In preparation for tomorrow's festivity.

It sits quietly in impatient desire

awaiting the time when the family retires

So Santa will descend from the chimney

in a vision of goodness ever so lively.

Boxes and bags and gifts of all sort

Will be layed below without a retort

And Santa will chuckle and look at this tree

Saying “The children will love you, just wait and see!”

The beautiful evergreen ruffled his needles with pride.

No tree could be happier, with such love at his side.

So Christmas came and went with a smile

And the evergreen brimmed with delight all the while.
