Too Young To Die

I'm sitting in the dark room,

My breath short and raspy

I'm too young to die

I hear gunshots and explosions all throughout the hotel

And the harsh, grating voices of the men

I'm too young to die

I'm sitting here and just shivering

Praying and praying

I'm too young to die

My breath hitches as I hear heavy footsteps outside the door

Daddy and I freeze, and I give him one last hug

I'm too young to die

I'm never going to prom,

Or be able to stand up there on the stage with my fellow students and graduate high school

I'm too young to die

I'm never going to be able to go to college,

And marry the man of my dreams

I'm too young to die

I'm never going to be able to tell my mom how much I love her,

And my siblings how much they mean to me

I'm too young to die

I don't want to die

I want to stay with my friends and family, and help make the world a better place

I'm too young to die

The gunman kicks open the door with his foot

And I whisper one last "I love you" to my father

I guess no one is ever too young to die

A/N: This is from a teenage girl's point of view who is trapped in the Taj Hotel in Mumbai, India, where the terror attacks have been going on for the past three days. It's really hard for me, because I've been raised very close to my Indian roots. God help all those innocent people who died and were hurt.
