Finding Moonlight

Thank you for taking your time to read my story. I'd love any criticism and advice you have to give me.
I could see they looks they gave me. But if they were truly my friends, wouldn't they know I love him? Wouldn't they know that he's the handsome prince for me?
Yes, he dated one of my best friends. Yes, he dated one of the most beautiful people who I admire - who doesn't even know my name.
I'm okay with it. He's with me. Not her who can get her hair to curl, or her who aced that last exam. But me.
That's enough.
"God, my lips hurt!" I could feel the pout in her voice. I love Brianne, but I could read her like a book. Before she could ask, I gave her my lip-gloss.
"Thank you love." Oh, I forgot. Also my lesbian lover. Don't get me wrong; we have nothing against them, but sometimes… Sometimes you need a lover.
I try not to remember that in a twisted sense, you could prove it. Given Annette = Robby and Robby = Brianne, substitute Robby = Brianne into Annette = Robby… You get Annette = Brianne.
I'm okay with that, she's okay with that. The rest of the world… should get their heads out of their asses.
Sometimes, instead of talking guys, we'll talk Robby. For a while she hated him. But they're all right now. He almost always sides with me. Although most the time I'm wrong, I can't help but love him for trying.
He's a character. One of the sweetest guys I know. A little… passionate I suppose, but then also as apathetic and stubborn towards others. A paradox. I wish he could yell and argue with me, and then sit together quietly. If we could be friends then lovers, not lovers trying to keep their hands to themselves in front of their chaperon.
Wishes upon a star on a clear night, close your eyes… I wish I may, I wish I might, have a wish I wish. I wish-
"Quiet class. Take out your lab book. Page 161, chemical reactions." Mr. Makivi's voice silenced the class like he held the power cord to us all. "Read the instructions. You have less than 15 minutes in the lab before class ends. Go."
Brianne and I found the materials, after a good 5 minutes of elbow banging with the other 30 students in our class. Sitting at the lab table, we used our highly scientific materials - baking soda, calcium chloride, phenol and a disposable glove - to observe the differences between chemical and physical changes in compounds. Reactions. I read ahead. And the page after tonight's homework had the answers written in. I wasn't planning on working hard tonight.
Combining the materials, lead to some interesting things. The baking soda turned hot pink, and the calcium chloride a pretty maroon color, and it was warm.
"Oh my god! It's hot!" Brianne shrieked.
"Wimp," I rolled my eyes, "Let me hold it."
"Whoa!" She just gave me that look, I told you so. "This is probably warmer than the whole high school." Our building was notorious for its temperature issues. Go to the third floor, winter it's freezing, fall and spring it's hot. Go to the first floor, winter it's freezing, fall, freezing, spring freezing. Second floor, you can never be prepared. It's hopeless.
She pulled at the sleeves of her long sweater. "Haha. I'm taking this with me next time I go skiing."
Mark, yes, Faith's Mark, came over to us, along with Matt and James. "Look! Lookie! Right here, it's hot pink-"
"Your favorite color." Brianne interrupted sarcastically.
"Totally." Matt answered, in his normal I-know-you're-not-talking-to-me-but-I'll-answer-anyway voice. Normal for him at least.
"And here, it's orange, and mixed together it's this awesome yellow." Matt's remark had given Mark time for breath. He bent down all the fingers but the middle and index. "Peace! Wait a sec…" He pulled down the index finger.
"I love you too Mark." I ran at him, not sure if today it would be an Ew-Annette-is-gross day or a Faith-isn't-here-and-you-look-like-her-so-you'll-do day.
It was the latter. He gave me a hug.
"Awkward…"
We went on to our homework pretending none of that happened, knowing in all likelihood it would occur again within the week. That's just how it worked.
Finishing our lab analyze in record time, we barely had our things packed before the bell rang.
I walked Brianne down the stairs to her locker, and went to lunch - and Robby.
