Thirty-Minute Talk”

Sable McPherson

I’m sorry if I’m bothering You

I just needed to talk

So I slipped from the house

And now going for a walk

It hasn’t been easy

I’m harboring deep pain

And when I try to drown it out

It’s always in vain

You know the story

How the memories unfold

When I look at the others

And see that day two months ago

I can’t believe I was that naïve

So blind and so stupid

I always hear the same response

“You’re only human.”

I know it was Your will

But where did I go wrong?

Was I not like the other girls?

Or was he just stringing me along?

Now it’s got me crying, God

I need this pain to end

I get on everyone’s nerves

For now, You’re my only Friend

You know the thoughts in my mind

The secrets that are untold

They crowd the walls of my mind

And are growing like a mold

My thirty minutes are up, God

I’d better dry my tears

Thank You for listening

I’m glad You’re always here.
