Vengeance

Prologue

She had sad eyes…terribly sad eyes - eyes that were never touched by her smile. It was supposed to be the happiest day of her life – Graduation Day. She’d finally completed her bachelor’s degree. She’d passed with honors. But she wasn’t happy.

No one could see the pain behind the mask she wore. She’d long since drifted away from her closest friends.

Twenty-two years had shown her how fake this world could be. She had stopped knowing the meaning of the word ‘trust’. Her dictionary consisted only of hurt, betrayal, and enmity.

What were friends?

What were lovers?

She lived in a world devoid of pleasure...a world where every minute, every second, was a trial...was suffering and pain.

She had grown sick of this life.

Many people had betrayed her; she had let them go. She had let them walk away from her.

She beat herself up for the misfortune that had overtaken her life.

Little did she know, all this was about to change.

He was awaiting the verdict from the jury. However, not in our realm – but in the realm of the Gods. They couldn’t decide where to send him. He had done both good and bad work. He was in the twilight zone.

The Gods finally decided that he must go back to the world again.

He had to help someone to go to Heaven, or destroy something to forever rot in Hell.

He had died after accidentally consuming poison. He was innocent, but in an extremely guilty way. He tried to plead with the Gods...this wasn't where he was supposed to be in the first place.

He was just twenty-five, an MBA student…too young to be dead. Yet the Gods couldn’t do anything to bring him to life. They only gave him four simple rules.

" The person will choose you as his or her Helping Angel" God had said, " A spirit sent down to do a last good deed, that is" God explained seeing the confused look on the boy's face. He continued:

"You only have seventy-two hours to do this deed. If you do a good deed, you come to Heaven. But if it is a bad deed, you shall rot in Hell."

Those where the final words spoken by God - the final scene the boy remembered from his brief stay in Paradiso. He felt himself hurtling back through time and space......and fall face forwards on Earth.

The boy picked himself up and began to wander the streets of Kolkata searching for the person he was to be a 'Helping Angel' of.

He had no idea he was about to experience hell on Earth.
