EPILOGUE

I looked out to the crowd. It was graduation, and I was currently standing around with the girls, waiting to get seated in the large gymnasium. I could see Andrew and mother. I saw all the other girls' families as well, but I didn't see the one person I was looking for. I played with the ring on my finger. When was he going to arrive? Andrew said that he was driving with him but that he needed to stop at his house before coming to my graduation.

Today was the last day of my high school career. I was eighteen and about to be announced second highest in my class, followed by the other girls. After this summer I would be joining Andrew and the person I was looking for in Geneses University under three scholarships- English, Writing and Basketball. I had been accepted my Junior year for early admittance.

“Beth?” Lily asked from beside me

“Yeah Lily?” I asked turning to my best friend

We hadn't changed much, the girls were still as beautiful as they always had been. Lily had grown a couple of inches and let her hair grow even longer. Oh, and did I mention that she and Andrew had become an item? It was right after Valentine's Day our Sophomore year actually. Brittany had grown as well but kept most everything else the same. It was the same way for all of us. Nothing big had happened within the two years since our Sophomore year.

“Stop reminiscing, we're going in.” Jackalyn said

“Sorry, I can't help it.” I said blushing as I headed to the front of the line

“Yeah, yeah, save it for later Beth.” Tricia said

“He's not here yet, is he?” Kelsey asked as I passed her

“Not that I can see,” I said sadly and stood in line

--

“Elizabeth Anderson,” the teacher called

I stood up from my seat and took my diploma from the principal and shook everyone's hands. I laughed as I could manage to hear Andrew screaming over the claps and cheers of the others. “Gees, your brother still has a voice,” a classmate said from beside me

“Yeah, but I love that about him.” I said smiling

I cheered as the other girls got their's and looked out to the stands. I kept searching...I couldn't find him. I just hoped he had been able to get here. It had been two weeks since I had seen him, as we both had to deal with finals.

--

I stood in my red dress. It was strapless, and came to about my knees. It was after graduation and we were getting out of our gowns. Mother had told us that she was going to get pictures of us later with our gowns on. I kept looking to the door, wondering if he was just going to burst through the doors like he had done when I was in my last period of my Junior year. Had the teacher not loved him I think he would have been kicked out of the classroom until the day officially ended.

“He still hasn't shown his face?” Tricia asked laying a hand on my shoulder

“No...I'm wondering if he even came.” I said sadly

“Now babe, do you really think that I wouldn't come to something as important as your graduation?” a deep voice said

I knew there was going to be a smirk on the gorgeous lips as I turned around. I turned, and sure enough, there was a smirk on his lips. James stood there, still as amazing as when he had graduated and any time really. His brown eyes shown brightly and I could tell they had pride in them. I grinned and ran to him, where he immediately opened his arms and pulled me into a hug. It had only been two weeks but for us, that was too long. He immediately captured my lips in his in a deep kiss and I could hear the girls both squealing and making sickening noises. Even after two years some of them could think it was too cute.

“When did you get here? I kept looking for you,” I said

“Sorry, I was hiding. Do you really trust any of the girls in your class- other then your friends- or any other grade really, to not jump me?” he asked

That was right, he had nearly been jumped every time he came to pick me up from school when he was visiting. Any time he came onto school grounds he was nearly jumped actually. Andrew had been the same way and Lily punched a girl because of it. That immediately made Andrew stop going, letting James pick us up since I refused to fight. “True,” I said smiling

“I have a surprise for you tonight at your graduation party.” he whispered into my ear

“You always have surprises for me.” I stated

“And? You know you love them,” he said kissing my cheek

“Yeah,” I said sighing

“I see you still have our first Valentine's Day surprise.” he said taking my hand

Sure enough on my hand was the exact same ring he had given me two years ago on Valentine's Day. “Yeah,” I said grinning

“Come on, lets go,” he said

--

I laughed as Tricia told a story from our Junior year. I knew I was going to miss the old times, but it turned out that we all had applied and been accepted to Geneses. Mother was shocked that Geneses would accept this many people but we weren't surprised. Andrew and James had spread good words about us apparently to the deans and professors on campus and they all apparently thought we were good enough.

“Now Beth, you've got a surprise waiting up here for you.” Andrew cooed from the front of the living room.

I groaned and stood up. The party was only for the girls and our families and James had brought some of his family with him. He was standing up front and I was almost afraid to find out what he was going to do. “Should I be afraid?” I asked

“No, my surprises are never that bad baby,” he said laughing as I stood in front of him

“Whatever,” I said rolling my eyes

“Beth...” he said softly

That immediately made sure he had my full attention. He never called me 'Beth' anymore. It was always something else- baby, babe, baby girl, amor, anything really. “What's up James?” I asked

He got on one knee and I, along with many other people in the living room, sucked in a breath. He couldn't be...he couldn't be! He pulled a small box out from his pocket. “We've been together for two years and seven months exactly.” he said and I realized it really had been that long that we had been together. “And I think its time we take this to the next level.” As he said that, he opened the box to reveal a large diamond ring. “Beth, I love you more then anything and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Elizabeth Raleigh Anderson, will you marry me?”

I stared in shock, and could feel the tears coming. “Yes! Yes! YES!” I exclaimed

He put the ring on my finger and immediately I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him deeply. Cheers erupted around us and I didn't care what others thought of me making out with my boyfriend- well, now fiancée. I was even happier now then when he first told me he was in love with me.

I had to have been the happiest girl in the world.
