Intro

A week ago I would have never expected to be in a Police Station. Now, here I am, in one of those dingy little interrogation rooms that you see on all those crime shows. It is almost exactly like those fictional chambers down to the flickering fluorescent lights over head and the one way mirror on the wall that I’m facing.

The craziest thing about this is the reason I’m in here in the first place. The police believe that I have killed someone. Me, Kaeli Matos, honor student extraordinaire, all around nice girl, has killed someone. Everyone knows I couldn’t hurt a fly, I think that this is the craziest thing I have ever heard! Especially since the person they think I killed, is my teacher, Dr. Denm Merlo. Dr. Merlo might have had the reputation of being a mean teacher, but he was really a good guy. I know that many people didn’t think that I liked him all that much, but not many people know what I truly think.

Dr. Merlo was killed due to ‘blunt force trauma’ to the head. I’ve watched enough crime shows to know that means he was hit in the head by something hard. I don’t know why they think I would even have the strength to hit Dr. Merlo hard enough to kill him. He was a pretty big guy, very tall and solid looking. So, the fact that I’m a slender girl of 5’7 with an aptitude for clumsiness makes this situation seem even more insane.

But, here I am in this dank deteriorating room, doing the only thing I can do in this situation. I’m going to clear my name. I didn’t kill anyone, but I know who did…

A/N: This is the intro to a short story I had to write for my Creative Writing Class. The next chapter will be the rest of the story.
