“Stop! Please, stop!” the girl screamed, but to no avail. Her boyfriend was seeing red, throwing punches at lightning speed, intent only on destroying the man’s face before him.

More and more people were piling on the lad, desperately trying to pull him off his victim, but despite his small size the boy held his ground, still swinging with ferocity. Blood was covering his hands, and the man’s face, but still he was not satisfied.

The girl, in a last ditch effort to stop her enraged partner, threw herself onto his back. “Get off me!” he yelled, throwing everyone off him with ease. It was only then that he realised he had hurt the person he was trying to protect.

Stopping his onslaught, the boy dropped the man he had pummelled and turned, looking into the eyes of the one he loved, but it was too late. He could feel the pain in her eyes, and felt the tears in his own, but it did not matter. Without a word the girl stood up and walked out; the boy did not try and stop her.
