Of Him

Alone in the house,
alone in her room,
alone in her own little world.

She ties the back of her dress
and looks at the mirror,
comparing herself to others.

Is her make-up okay?
Is her hair curled enough?
Is her dress all right?

Will she be able to catch his eye?

She dresses herself
for the upcoming dance
with that certain boy in mind.

He goes the whole day
without thinking about her,
while he's the only one she ever sees.

It's his eyes, his smile,
just everything about the boy
that makes her wish for him.

Climbing back down to reality,
she holds her breath and
feels her heartbeat quicken.

She smile at her reflection,
wishing herself luck,
then walks out the door.

...thinking only of him.
